London Thunder Basketball Club are proud to be supported by the New Bermondsey Sports Foundation (NBSF) who are a charitable organisation committed to developing grassroot sports on the development site sport in our local community. NBSF exist and support London Thunder Basketball Club through the good auspices of Renewal, the developer of the masterplan site behind the regeneration of New Bermondsey
The running and day to day management of London Thunder Basketball Club is a costly enterprise and to support our programme NBSF provides rent free warehouse space to the club which, with NBSF backing, we have converted into our home venue and club base, The Thunderdome, at Stockholm Road SE16.
London Thunder Basketball Club was established in the south of Lewisham and with the help of NSBF we have been able to expand our offering beyond our original school base. The Thunderdome was officially opened in 2014 and London Thunder Basketball Club has since shown exponential membership growth and we are recognised in England as a leading community sport club.
London Thunder/NBSF set up is a great, sound and strong partnership. The charity’s aim to provide world class sports facilities for school, community and elite use in south-east London and to safeguard those facilities for future generations closely links to and the ethos of the club to provide a sound, robust and resilient basketball club programme in the locale that is nationally recognised, yet close to its community. With the engagement and support of NBSF we are firmly on that path.
