London Thunder Basketball is a not for profit organisation.
Therefore all funds paid to the club are used solely for the benefit of the club and its members. Membership of London Thunder Basketball is following the Covid pandemic a requirement. There are various routes available to those who do wish to join.
Membership is due annually in September. Associate members are registered with the club. All NBL members are registered with Basketball England.
We offer 2 levels of club membership each year and coaches will advise which level you should apply for,
Players who wish to be considered for any of the teams will need to be full members of the club at which ever level is appropriate.
Selection for all teams is at the discretion of the head coach.
Membership at both levels will receive the following:
- entry to any training session at Forest Hill or Stockholm Road
- Chance to attend camps
- free participation in events and tournaments
- Kit – A reversible playing vest with club logo. For NBL members there is an additional kit package which is decided annually. (Please Note: Kit will only be issued on full payment of membership fees)
Associate members will train during the community sessions at either of our venues, but those considered ready may be invited to National League training sessions to further their development. This is considered to be the first step into competitive play and sits in phase 2 of our player development pathway. Members will be given opportunities to play games at our regularly organised events across the season.
National League is a big commitment and players who wish to play at this level will need to attend training on time regularly (2-3 sessions a week) and be available for games at weekends. National League requires a bigger financial commitment from players.
NBL incurs higher costs to cover the following:
- Entry fees to league
- Registrations for players with Basketball England
- Officials fees & expenses for matches
- Court running costs for training and home matches
- Kit
- Travel expenses to away games
National League Games are played on a home and away basis. Fixtures will be mainly in and around London and the Home Counties area, with some away games possibly being on the South Coast or East Anglia. We will let players have exact venues & times when we have confirmed the fixtures.
We aim to use mini-buses where possible to get players to away games but may need to ask for support with transport from parents on occasions. There will be times when older players may need to travel by public transport to away games.
